Reframing your relationship with movement

Incorporating movement into your life has been shown to have incredibly positive physical and mental health benefits. However, getting started can be intimidating and stressful. We partnered with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) to help you learn how to welcome movement into your life in a natural way that aligns with your goals and your lifestyle. This course will help you reflect on the mental blocks preventing you from getting active and help you create a curated plan for making movement a part of your daily routine.

What is movement?

Movement comes in many ways, shapes, and forms. For some, it could be running on the treadmill, but for others it may be ballroom dancing, gardening, or playing with your kids. In just a few minutes per day, you will be prompted to reframe the definition of physical activity and begin to learn how to rewire your brain to see movement as a privilege, rather than a chore.

Exploring the possibilities

Through seven lessons, the Making Space for Movement course will help you learn how to approach your journey toward becoming fitter with grace. First, you will be prompted to consider the ‘why’ behind your reason for getting active. Then, you will consider what prevents you from moving your body, be it mental blocks, time constraints, or other barriers. By the end of the course, you will have a better sense for how movement can be uniquely incorporated into your life in a way that feels right.

Tools in your toolkit

Throughout the course, you will be introduced to several other helpful tools. To strengthen your awareness skills, you are encouraged to take part in daily Check-Ins within the Unwinding app. Additionally, you can try out the five-minute HACK self-care exercise to HACK your habits for the better. If you’re interested in NASM’s wide breadth of tools and thought leadership around fitness, be sure to check out NASM.org. And you can always try out additional courses in the Learn section of the Unwinding app, like the Stress and Kindness courses.
